KIDS BAKING CLASSICS

Do you have a child that loves to bake?  This class is designed to take your budding chef and keep them inspired all the while shaping the way they look at food, sanitation and basic understanding of kitchen chemistry.

This class is focused on baking classics. We will do savory dishes as well – mostly so we can eat lunch!

This is a fully hands on class designed for all levels. We see baking as an art but also an incredibly important life skill that will follow them throughout their life. Starting them off with the tools for success and a life long love of cooking is our goal. And hey, you will probably get a few nights off from the kitchen.

  • Blueberry Muffins
  • Cheesy Ham Quiche
  • Buttermilk Biscuits
  • Fresh Cinnamon Sugar Butter

Things we will cover in class:

  • Mise en place (just a little culinary French lesson)
  • Proper techniques for baking
  • Measuring and kitchen math adaptations
  • How to read a recipe
  • How to decorate and display your creations
  • How to manage your time in the kitchen
  • Kitchen safety
  • Food safe handling and storage

For Ages 7+

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This is a hands on class… please send your child with closed toed shoes and long hair tied back.

This class is intended only for children 8 and older.

What To Expect: Hands On Class  
Your chef instructor will teach the proper techniques to elevate your cooking.
You will work with other guests in a fun, hands-on environment led by our Chef Instructor.
Work from a recipe that was created for each specific class

Work others to prepare each dish from start to finish
Classes are roughly 2 to 2 1/2 hours, unless otherwise noted above, and each student will enjoy a full meal of what you created in class
Cooking classes are conducted in our state of the art Blue Star outfitted demonstration kitchen and each class is led by an experienced chef instructor.
Wine, beer and Soft drinks are for sale (sorry, no BYOB)
Students receive a 10% to shop before or after class

**Everyone is required to wear masks at all times other than drinking and eating.  Class sizes are reduced and we practice social distancing to keep everyone safe!

If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, that we can work around we will PLEASE add any info we may need to know about in your order notes or call us at 630-395-9958 at least 1 day in advance.
We can not make any substitutions the day of class. Thank you for understanding

Cancellation Policy:  We require that you cancel at least 48 hours before a scheduled class.  If you have to cancel your class, we will offer you a credit to your account if you cancel after the 48 hours, but do not offer refunds. You may use these credits towards any future class. However, if you do not cancel prior to the 48 hours, you will lose the payment for the class.
